Not all Organic Vitamins are "fully digestible". Learn to discern!

Organic Vitamins

Vitamins are available in organic purity and all of us can benefit from them due to their digestibility. The simple answer is we need supplements for disease prevention caused by our deficient diet and man's propensity for pollution. Our regular farm produce is not what it used to be. For example, in the 1920's and 1930's a pound of spinach had a measurable amount of iron. It still does, but you now must eat 50 lbs of "modern farmed" spinach to get the same amount of iron. How's that for performance? I call it up-side down performance. Crops are not only subjected to artificial fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals, but can be irradiated as well. The radiation treatment will mostly destroy any nutrients and enzymes. But this food sure looks great! However, it is mostly empty, except for the harm it can do. Thus the need for organic supplements and organic foods.

Some Food Facts

Farmed fish can grow to 8,10 or 12 lbs in a few years. But because they are grain fed and pumped full of antibiotics, there health benefit has been compromised. The same for grain fed animals and poultry! The grain produces an abundance of Omega-6 fatty acids and too little Omega-3 fatty acids; this spells clogged arteries. The antibiotics cause problems both in nature and humans. Many "farmed" animals suffer the same calamity.

Some Organic Vitamin Facts

Vitamins are organic food substances found only in plants and animals. Organic vitamins are divided into 2 classes based on solubility. The water soluble vitamins include folic acid, vitamin C, niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B-12, biotin and vitamin B-6. The fat soluble vitamins include vitamin A, D, E, and K. Fat soluble vitamins can be stored in the body, sometimes in large amounts, while water soluble vitamins cannot be stored. Vitamins and minerals are necessary, in varying amounts, to promote body function and good health. They have no calories but are essential for the body to metabolize nutrients in food and keep our bodies in top condition. A depletion of vitamins and minerals brings about chronic and acute disease.

In 1998, an evaluation was conducted on liquid vitamins and minerals. The purpose was to look at evidence of whether or not there were benefits to the liquid form of supplements. A comprehensive review of many studies was undertaken and it was determined that liquid supplements contain nutrients that are highly bioavailable, are gentler on the stomach and are more suitable for children and the elderly. Vitamin C

Did you know that most mammals can manufacture Vitamin C. Humans are one of the exceptions. They must get their "C" from dietary intake. Adults require approximately 120mg per day. A recent study of over 290,000 adults followed their rate of coronary heart disease for 10 years. Those taking more than 700mg of Vitamin C per day had 25% lower risk of CHD. This level of Vitamin C intake appears to saturate plasma and circulating cells. Another recent 10 year study found that the top 25% of plasma Vitamin C levels had 42% lower risk of stroke than those in the bottom 25%. This study included over 20,000 adults.

A large number of studies have shown that increasing consumption of fruit and vegetables demonstrates a reduced risk of many cancers. These studies have resulted in the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Natioal Cancer Institute recommending the consumption of at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Further studies have demonstrated a lower incidence of many cancers with increased consumption of Vitamin C. There is some emerging evidence that Vitamin C and bioflavinoids when taken together, are more slowly absorbed and have an approximate 35% increase in bioavailability. So that's why we have organic vitamins for vegetarians and the rest of us too!
